Rich Homie Quan

Musician / Bands 09 May 17 0

Dequantes Lamar dropped the summer hip-hop hit “Type of Way” in 2013 under his teenage nickname, Rich Homie Quan. He first considered a career in professional baseball, but in 2008, the Atlanta native dropped the single “Stay Down” featuring the Stack Money Boyz. Things came to a halt when he landed in jail for a year on burglary charges, but upon his release in 2011, Quan began to make up for lost time. Hooking up with the Atlanta crew Loyalty Ova Royalties and becoming quick friends with member CEO Teezy came next, but Teezy’s untimely death later in the year put a stop to Quan’s planned mixtape debut. He would re-emerge a year later on the T.I.G. label and drop the mixtapes I Go in on Every Song plus Still Goin’ In. The year 2013 began with a tour opening for Trinidad James, along with a guest appearance on Gucci Mane’s Trap House 3 album. In the summer, he dropped the infectious club track “Type of Way,” which cracked Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. Rich Homie Quan released a fistful of mixtapes, and in 2016 he landed a record deal with Motown. March 2017 saw the release of the single “Replay,” a preview of the upcoming album Rich as in Spirit. The following month, the rapper dropped the mixtape Back to the Basics, his debut release for Motown. ~ David Jeffries

Post discussed releasing a debut album in March of 2016, but after various setbacks the album never came to fruition. In it’s place, on May 12th, 2016, he released his first mixtape, August 26th to critical acclaim.

Future

Musician / Bands 09 May 17 0

Nayvadius Cash (born Nayvadius Wilburn on November 20, 1983), better known by his stage name Future, is an American rapper (with a common rapport among the Haitian-American community) and singer from Kirkwood, Atlanta, Georgia. He is signed to the record label Epic Records. He is a cousin of fellow Atlanta rapper Rocko and is cousins with Rico Wade and an associate of the Dungeon Family.

Future has made himself known for his extensive use of auto-tune, giving him a flurry of hit singles such as “Fuck Up Some Commas”, “Turn On The Lights”, among others.

Future is also known for his hook singing on tracks such as “Buy The World”, “U.O.E.N.O, “Loveeeeee Song” & “Pain”.

Future was at one point engaged to singer Ciara and they have a child, Future Jr., but they broke up—due to Future apparently not wanting a very extravagant wedding. He later went on to say:

I can’t have no big wedding on E! News. … I can’t have all these different big media outlets cover my wedding and I’m not comfortable. … I’m not comfortable about where I’m at in my career. I’m not comfortable about compromising about just being the person that I am, being the man that I am. I feel like my better judgment is to go back and record and make music.

He is closely associated to Atlanta producers DJ Esco, Southside, Metro Boomin, Sonny Digital & Zaytoven.
