On Monday’s [August 28] episode of Ebro In The Morning, Ebro Darden addressed remarks football legend Jim Brown made pertaining to Colin Kaepernick during an interview last week. Brown told a reporter from The Post Game that while he empathizes with the reason Kaepernick is protesting and would like to back him, he’d never disrespect his flag or his country, and would suggest that Kaepernick re-evaluate whether the NFL is where he wants to be if he’s going to continue on with such a demonstration. To Darden’s determination, Brown’s statement only shows how out of touch he’s grown with resistance.

“All do respect, I love you and I love all the work you’ve done. But I wish people like yourself would take it upon yourself to reach out to young people like somebody like a Colin Kaepernick instead of finding the first microphone to speak out,” he said. Ebro contended that gone are the days when an athlete with a cause submitted to the narrative that they’ve got to quiet down in the interest of keeping their job. He also scoffed at the notion that Kaepernick wasn’t actually organizing anyone with the gesture he brought to the pre-game National Anthem ceremony.

“He has tons of people organized with him. But, to our elders who were a part of movements before, you’re not in touch with the new movements happening right now,” he said. “That’s why you think Colin Kaepernick is not a part of organizations or connecting with people in the community. Because you’re not in touch. You’re not listening to young people and what they’re saying the issues are today.” made progress but gonna have to change means.”
