Stephen A. Smith and Max Kellerman of ESPN’s First Take gave their thoughts on the recent McGregor and Mayweather fight that took place this past Saturday, and what that means for Floyd Mayweather’s legacy. The two had interesting thoughts, with Smith being very vocal about not counting the latest fight as a match, but as more of an exhibition. Despite that, Smith and Kellerman noted that Mayweather changed the game.

Kellerman said that Mayweather is “one of the best to ever do it and because he was always prepared over a very long amateur and pro career.” Kellerman went on to say Mayweather “flipped the script,” saying that fans and networks usually exploit fighters, putting the fighters health at risk, but Mayweather changed it so that he controls what fights he chose. Kellerman went on to say that Floyd’s motto was “Don’t let the game play you, play the game.”

Smith gave his thoughts, saying “He is unblemished, he’s undefeated, and did so while making more money than any boxer in history because he convinced you to hate him so much that you paid someone else to beat him.” Watch above
