A high school senior from Arizona has just become the first woman to land an NCAA football scholarship.
Becca Longo a was stand-out kicker for her high school team, hitting 30 of 33 extra points, and will attend Adams State University in Colorado, which plays Division II football. Though several women have played at the college level, none have been on scholarship.
She told People magazine, “It didn’t really kick in until a couple hours after, I just thought I was signing a piece of paper to go play the sport I love again. Even right now, I’m still shocked.”
How ’13 Reasons Why’ Tells the Story of My Own Struggle
Blog News 03 May 17 0
Why me?
That is the question I came away with after watching Netflix’s newest hit 13 Reasons Why. Why did I have the privilege of surviving an illness that so many others die from?
When beginning the show, I was skeptical about whether the series was going to be realistic and if its attempt at talking about a hard subject would only glorify teen suicide in the way that so many other attempts have done. I wondered if it would only serve as a horrible trigger for some and possibly do more harm than good. But as I watched, its authenticity struck a chord in me. It served as a sad picture of what could have been in my life, since I struggled with depression for years.
Kendrick Lamar Thinks Preaching Has Gotten Too Watered Down
Blog News 03 May 17 0
Last week, hip-hop review site DJBooth posted an analysis of Chance the Rapper and Kendrick Lamar’s respective perspectives on God. Those with their fingers on the pulse have definitely noticed that two of the biggest, most important rappers in the business are obsessed with the Divine, but as Miguelito points out, they have very different takes.
Chance’s music is all worship, so full of joy and gratitude that he can’t help but sing gospel music at the Grammys. Kendrick is in a more thorny place, wrestling with Job-like questions about justice and his own worthiness.

Blog News 03 May 17 0
If you owned this, this, or one of these, then you’re a Church kid; one of those select few whose parents shuttled you off to your local house of worship whenever the doors were open. Maybe your mom was a pastor. Maybe your dad in the church choir. Maybe you just really liked going to church.
Whatever it was, if you were a church kid, there are a few songs you probably had drilled into your head like a mantra. Other ’90s kids know the words to “Gangsta’s Paradise” and “Waterfalls” by heart, but you weren’t allowed to listen to those. So you memorized these instead.

OneRepublic Are Dropping New Music This Week – But Are Being VERY Silent On The Teaser Front
Blog News 03 May 17 0
US pop-rock band OneRepublic are responsible for numerous international anthems, but it’s been far too long since they’ve dropped new music that’s stood the test of time.
They haven’t had a no.1 on the Vodafone Big Top 40 since ‘Counting Stars’ was released in 2013 – so Ryan Tedder’s band are long overdue a chart-topper!
