Derek Fisher was formally charged in connection with the accident that totaled the SUV assigned to lover Gloria Govan by her ex-husband Matt Barnes, and nearly killed Govan and the former Knicks coach in the process. Fisher was slapped with 2 counts of DUI and faces up to 6 months in jail if convicted.

Fisher had been returning home from a night out with Govan on June 4 when the Cadillac Escalade they were driving in slammed into a guardrail and flipped at around 3 a.m. in the morning. Thankfully neither Fisher nor Govan, who was in the passenger seat, were injured in the wreck. But Fisher’s bad fortune would not end with a totaled vehicle. He was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, leading to the charges that were filed this week.

In the days that followed Fisher’s accident, he would suffer the embarrassment of a story leaking that confirmed the Escalade had been registered in friend-turned-foe, Barnes’ name.
